K. Oldal

Kerstin Oldal, born in 1977 in Paris, grown up in Stockholm, is a Franco-Swedish artist who lives in the south of France and works between Nice and Stockholm. She draws her inspiration from her legacy, double culture, Art History, Architecture, Design and Fashion.

She has been painting for 20 years and has always loved colours, contrasts, the effects of texture and the impact of pure shapes and lines. In her stylistic paintings she mixes acrylic with copper, gold-and silverfoils. She likes urban architecture and Street Art, walking around in the city, photographing everything she sees, especially Stockholm – she also loves Fashion and designers, particulary Dior and Saint-Laurent, and sketching dresses.

Eventually, her pictural work is a sensitive and original combination, fluctuating between Design and Minimalism, as well as it borrows and salutes Pop art, Art Déco, Byzantin Art and Street Art.

Kerstin Oldal has studied Fine Arts in Vallauris for 1 year, in order to get a classic formation (drawing, watercolour, oil painting, clay modelling). Then she studied Contemporary Art in Nice during 4 years. Eventually, she obtained a Master degree in Art History at the university of Montpellier after 5 years. Her master’s thesis were about Graffiti and Street Art (4th year) and scandinavian design (5th year).

Kerstin Oldal has participated in different group-and one-person exhibitions in different places, like fairs, auction sales and galleries. She sells to private customers, collectors and Swedish company’s art associations.
She has also been part of different projects such as illustration of books and album covers.
